“Cherish your Dreams & Visions - they are the Children of your Soul; the Blueprint of your Ultimate Achievements” (Napoleon Hill)

I am a photographer, an artist, a wife, and a mother.
Being a mother has enabled me to acquire my true passion in life, photography.
My children are my life. My son Dylan who is 8 years old wants to save the world by conquering every video game that has anything to do with war. My daughter who is 4, thinks she is a princess every day of the week. Being a mother to my two kids has taught me to capture the most precious moments and transform them into art. Some of their moments are the perfect grins, heartbreaking tears, most ridiculous temper tantrums, or my little princess having a horrible hair day. If anyone has kids they know how fast they grow and that those very important moments flutter by often to be forgotten. I started to think of ways to make these wonderful moments freeze in time, of course, the answer was with my camera.
Anyone that has came to my home would agree with my husband that I have a shrine of my children plastered all over our walls. I cover my walls with photos of my children, as this is my art. My friends noticed my “shrine” and seen the unique art in it as well. They started asking me to snap pictures of their kids and to bring my camera to all the friends and family functions. I decided to buy a professional camera and take photography classes. I loved it so much that I would spend day and night reading about photography.
Learning photography has taught me to see things better without my camera. The world around us is full of beauty and art. I now catch myself looking at everything in an artistic way. My inspiration and style is simply from the heart. It started with my childhood, I remembered what I loved as a child and combined that with what my kids love. I noticed that I love taking pictures of children playing in the sprinklers, blowing bubbles, and eating ice cream on a hot summer day. The giggles, messy faces, and the true innocence of a child is what I love to portray in my photographs. I knew right then I wanted to be a children’s photographer. Why not make money out of something you love doing. I tried out weddings, those are too stressful and I did not see any enjoyment out of them . I like to photograph scenery and would love to travel and take pictures of our gorgeous world one day. But I have to say, the minute I got a perfect picture of a child and their true personality and emotion shined through, I got so happy and excited. I knew right then that photographing children was my passion. I decided to start up my business.
I like to say I stand out from many other photographers for many reasons. My photos usually tell a story and express the emotion in the picture. I love to find unique places to have my sessions. You can find me anywhere from a beach, a barn, a park, to a little quiet alley somewhere downtown. I like to find a unique place for each child so they can relax and have fun. I notice that I can capture their true emotion and personality this way. Might I add I have also been known to use fun props. I have shoved newborn babies into suitcases, and have went as far as dragging an old vintage chair out into the woods or the downtown alley. I love to shine with creativity. It melts my heart when parents are excited to see the pictures I have taken of their kids. I have had a few clients cry and say that I have captured who their children are and they will cherish the photographs forever. I love my job as a photographer. I am constantly learning new things and I will always improve with my photography. It is my true passion.
Being a photographer has been a true form of expression for me. I usually have my camera everywhere I go. I never want to miss that “precious moment” or the beauty that surrounds us everyday which in my eyes is art.
Due to the economy slowing down and my business slowing down I have had more time on my hands. I decided to fill the time in with furthering my education. I am a sophomore at “The University of Michigan”. I am going for a degree in communication but honestly not sure what I want to do with myself. I figure it will jump out at me one day, until then I will continue to educate myself. Why a degree in communication? A communication major focuses on much of the same coursework as public relations, advertising, journalism, corporate training, marketing, and business management. I am not sure on what field to go into but all of these careers sound interesting to me.
I will still do photography during the spring and summer and take fall and winter off for school. I love photography and it is and will always be first on my list of things that I am passionate about. I recommend that everyone should find something they are passionate about and go for it.
